2020 Million Dollar Bike Ride
NEHI Research Foundation was fortunate to be included in the Million Dollar Bike Ride on June 13th, 2020 for the 2nd consecutive year. The event, put on by the Orphan Disease Center (ODC) at the University of Pennsylvania, raises awareness and funds for research into rare diseases. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event was held virtually this year with participants riding in their own communities. While we sure missed seeing everyone in person in Philadelphia we were thrilled at the participation and support we received from across the country and even globe! In total, Team NEHI Warrior had 44 registered riders with countless others joining them to raise awareness. This fantastic support resulted in Team NEHI Warrior being the 3rd largest team out of 32 rare disease teams!
We were also blown away by the financial support received from the friends and family of our participants. With over 220 individual donations we were able to raise over $42,000 for the ride. Combined with additional funds the foundation had retained from prior fundraisers and the $30,000 match from the Penn Orphan Disease we were able to offer $103,000 in grants for NEHI Research! Simply amazing! Be sure to visit our Research page for other grants offered and awarded to NEHI Research.
